My 2003 Ford Focus SE ‘whines’ until the engine warms up. This has only started to happen since the cold snap kicked in. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Has the serpentine belt ever been replaced? I replace mine every 3 years with a good quality belt like a Gates (Napa?) or a Goodyear Poly-V. Open the hood with the engine running to try and locate the source of the noise.
Both my Fords had noisy power steering pumps. I use a turkey baster or siphon to empty the PS pump reservoir and refill with fresh PS fluid and then run the engine to mix the old with the new. I did this a couple of times to get out most of the old fluid. I did this once a year with my 98 Windstar and it helped keep the pump quiet.
