The clutch pedal on my 100250 mile Focus sometimes doesn’t depress fully-it gets stuck about 2/3 way down. More often, it depresses fully but there’s a “catch” in the movement. The car shifts okay even when the pedal is not fully depressed, the clutch doesn’t seem to be slipping. Any ideas about what is causing this?
How’s the fluid level? Does it look low? If it is low, there is probably a leak, either in the master cylinder or slave cylinder. If either is leaking, they should be replaced together.
The fluid level is fine. When I went to open the hood I noticed that the handle and cable for the hood release had broken and fallen behind the clutch pedal. A quick repair to that and a quick test drive solved the problem. Thanks for your answer.
I wish all repairs were that simple, or even that possible! Good work.
