I had a transmission rebuild on a 2003 Ford Escape. After the rebuild the car makes a clicking sound when accelerating-- this is getting worse as the weather warms.
Any thoughts?
If it has an automatic transmission the noise you hear might be from the torque converter becoming loose from the flex plate mounted on the engine crankshaft. When this happens the turbine blades in the torque converter can interfere with each other causing the clicking noise.
The most common cause for this to happen after the transmission is replaced is failure to apply a thread locking compound to the threads of the fasteners that hold the torque converter to the flex plate.
