Cleaning windshield on the interior

@volvo_v70, @Josh_M just registered and before we go and assume he’s shilling for Dawn dish soap, can we consider that maybe, just maybe, he found his way here and decided to leave a tip for someone else who might be trying to find the best way to clean his or her windshield? Lots have things have changed in ten years of new vehicles, but everybody’s still got a windshield. Let’s leave him alone.

Yup, they have windshields. And I’m still cleaning them with crumpled up dry newspaper. And it still works.

But now hardly any one has newspapers. You could try rubbing the inside of the windshield with a cell phone, but I’m not supporting the idea.

You can buy newsprint at office supply stores for around 5 bucks a ream if you don’t get a newspaper anymore. Same stuff the paper uses, just in convenient 8.5x11 size.

It’s not the black ink, it’s the paper itself. Paper is abrasive. Some people use lunch sacks to clean up paint overspray on projects. It’ll rub the gunk off the glass, but isn’t hard enough to scratch the glass itself.

But the microfiber cloth works very well also - the only downside is that you have to then wash the cloth and keep track of where it is, whereas you just toss the newsprint when you’re done.

Get microfiber cloths

First, dip one microfiber cloth in the cleaning solution and then wring it out.

Next, wipe the wet cloth over the interior surface of the window to thoroughly wash it. For hard-to-reach corners, use a coat hanger or straight-edge (such as a ruler) to help push the cloth into them.

Finally, wipe the windshield dry with the other cloth.

The Invisible Glass Reach & Clean Tool is handy for this. You can even lay your own cloth over if it needed.
