Do you have any knowledge of a car we owned in the 50s either a chrysler of desoto that the radio was controlled by a button on the left side floorboard that you used to change stations on the radio. My wife does not remember this.

Those radios with a foot control for changing stations were available on a number of makes, not just Chrysler products. You can assure your wife that these radios really did exist.
I agree. We had one in our 1964 Model 62 Cadillac sedan. The headlight dimmer was also a foot switch near the radio scanner. After a while, I stopped getting them mixed up.
