Chicanes in Pennsylvania

Montgomery Township Pennsylvania has put a chicane in Grays Lane

:Grays Lane gets a twist: New chicanes aim to slow down speeders, police say - North Penn Now

I suspect it won’t work. You?

Terrible waste of that expensive paint.

To me… THAT is a challenge, not a speed restriction! :chequered_flag:

My car is narrow enough that I can drive straight through without touching the lines. I imagine that some of the people in myneighborhood would be intimidated and go about 10 mph while gripping the steering wheel tightly and sweating.

That kind of looks like fun. A waste of taxpayer dollars, but fun nevertheless.

If the silly lines help reduce speeding then that is better than speed bumps.

We had a greater waste, chicanes compromised of wavy widened sided walks, raised grass medians. One blocks the entrance to a drug store but allows a turn into an exit only driveway.
Have these “improvements” stopped people jaywalking at night in dark clothing? Have these “improvements” stopped people on bicycles or skateboards from ignoring red lights?

Just seems like an indication of not enough work and too much time on their hands to think of solutions to non-existent problems.

In a year or so, the peaks will be worn away from people driving straight. Who comes up with these asinine ideas anyway?

The highway engineers were out drinking during lunch last week and came up with this after returning.

I would hope they would also put one of those speed limit signs that show you your speed while blinking…

I would try for high score…

That is sometimes easy to do. There is one of those devices in a town near me, and it frequently tells me that I’m going 188 mph, despite the fact that I’m driving 45-50 mph.

All the ones around me are all correct, GPS tested…

Nothing but a bunch of chicanery.
