Check engine light

My mechanic said the rear vsv valve is rusted causing the check engine light to come on. Is it necessary to repair the valve? Could this be the problem?

My mechanic somehow shut off the check engine light. I need to know if I should get the VSV valve fixed.

Well what exactly was the code your mechanic retrieved from the vehicle? The code will be something like P0300, a “P” followed by four digits. If you don’t know, go back and ask.

That CEL (check engine light) is just a kid in class waving her hand trying to get you attention because she has the answer. You need to have the codes read. Some places will read them for FREE. Try Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. Get the exact code (like P0123) not just their translation into English and post it back here.
