Cheaper alternative to BMW

The new Lexus GS350 (it’s rwd or awd) has gotten rave reviews, with the ‘F’ (sports) model being compared very favorably the the BMW 5 series. Of all the Japanese options the GS would be a good combination of handling, performance, ride, and reliability.

Even the car nuts over at Edmunds seem to like theirs:

First question you have to ask yourself . . . . why did I buy a BMW? Performance? Status? Safety? Whatever. The answer to this question will lead to a better choice of your next car. If you wanted performance, remember that this costs $$. If you only wanted the status, maintaining a BMW is $$ and is it worth it to you? Safety? What are you looking for? Low or no maintenance? Performance? I know of several folks who sold their 911s because they only wanted the status, didn’t count on the costs and eccentricity of a 911. Rocketman

Cadillac is no longer an old person’s car. Think Buick if you want an old person’s car from GM.

What would be the ultimate cushy ride? I know you give up some on performance but just wondering...

Probably something from Rolls Royce that none of us can afford

Either that or a Maybach, but you can’t buy those new anymore.

“Either that or a Maybach, but you can’t buy those new anymore.”

I can’t afford a used Maybach, either.
