I recently took my 2003 Honda Civic in for it’s 60,000 mile checkup. Upon inspection, i was told that the brakes needed replacing, and that my rotors had been warped due to excessive heat. I was caught off guard by the brakes, for they were replaced at 51,000 miles. There has been no hard or excessive braking. What could cause these 9,000 mile old brakes to be completely worn away and the rotors to warp?
Do you feel any vibration in the pedal during braking? Remove one of the wheels and look at the pads, how much material is left? This wouldn’t be the first time someone made a bogus diagnosis. I could give you dozens of examples but by far the best one was with a house I sold. I replaced the roof 1 month prior to selling it and one of the buyer’s inspectors said the roof needed immediate replacement. WTF? Just because someone said it, doesn’t mean it’s true.
