I have a 2000 Tracker with 58834 miles. I drive it just around town. I’ve had it on the interstate just once. Over the past 8-9 mos. it’s developed the nasty habit of not restarting after it has warmed to driving temp. When trying to restart, it turns over nicely but doesn’;t start. I sometimes even backfires. My trusted mechanic has tried on several occasion to dublicate the malfunction but can’t. It the car cools for 20 min. or so, it starts right up. we’re at a loss. Need help --Jim in Stuart, FL
This sounds like an ignition control module malfunction. When the control module heats up it becomes very intermittent. It’s very common on GM vehicles.
