I have a 2005 Ford Escape XLT. When I am sitting at a red light, brake down, my car starts vibrating. I can feel it in the steering wheel, the headrest, everywhere. On top of that, it is very loud. This started about two months ago. The car has 55k on it. When the brake is down and in neutral, the car is quiet as can be and doesn’t vibrate. When I am in park, the vibration and noise is less. Any thoughts on what I should/could look at? Thanks.
Concentrate your inspection on idle rpm issues.
And, have your motor mounts inspected!
I’m betting with VDC on a problem with the mounts.
But you should also make sure that all normal maintenance is up to date - plugs, wires, filters, etc. as the motor could just be running rough from a problem with spark/air/fuel.
