Blue smoke, black smoke, white smoke? Black is excessive fuel. Blue is oil burning. White is antifreeze. Burning excess fuel if that is determined to be a fact is caused by poor maintenance such as worn plugs clogged air filter or sensors needing replacement such as oxygen sensor. A general diagnostic check and tune up would be in order.
How about letting us know what kind of car, how many miles, any bucking and jerking, any Check Engine Light on, and what color smoke you’re talking about?
There’s a million answers. If you provide some info maybe that number can be whittled down to a manageable number.
