Daewoo went bankrupt and GM bought the assets, and then closes several facilities, and kept the best ones open. The main asset was the design staff who, with Opel in Germany, ended up designing nearly all future GMsmall cars.
The Chevy Aveo was an unimproved leftover from the original Daewoo design for Asian markets. The less said about it the better.
Folks, folks, cut the OP a little slack maybe. A youthful college student, not a middle age accountant. OP’s the age for a little more flexibility in ideas, time a little more fun than afterward, when job and family take so much time. And it’s a good time for learning some life lessons on their own. When I was a college student I was comparing two used cars too, both sports cars, one an Opel which leaked oil like crazy , and another a Fiat 124 Spyder with a soft top roof that was about to fall apart. Either would have been a disaster reliability-wise, much more problematic than the cars the OP is considering. But if and when they were actually running, both would have been cool rides!
Both are likely money pits.
