I’ve had rotors from Auto Zone on my '88 Escort for years and had no problems with them.
Auto Zone, Oreileys, Napa Rotors have always treated me fine. I have always purchased the cheapest available. Don’t know why everyone else has problems.
2000 Accord 2000 Mustang 1996 Pont Sunfire.
I’ve used brake rotors from a variety of sources, both cheap and pricy, and have never had a problem with any of them.
The sourcing of parts has become so murky it’s become near impossible to determine who is doing what anymore.
FWIW, the OEM rotors on my 1997 Taurus warped at about 20,000 miles. Ford turned them under warranty. By 40,000 they were warped again. I put on Duralast (generic) rotors from Autozone. When I sold the car with 130,000 miles, those duralasts were running just fine.
OTOH, the made in China drums I got from NAPA were horribly out of round straight out of the box. They swapped them for a set made in Argentina that worked great. If you’re a DIY type, you can probably get them turned for about $25 (that’s what my Camry cost recently) for a pair. That’s probably $50-75 less than new rotors. You might end up doing the job again in a few years, but the same could be said with the new rotors. If you drive under 10k per year and don’t mind the idea that you might spend an hour in a few years doing the job again, just get them turned… if you drive 15k or more or want to minimize odds of doing the job again in a few years, replace them…
Thanks again for all your suggestions. good to know there was a store based in AZ to buy “Brembo” Rotors. I don’t have any tools and not really DIY guy because I know little about the cars and honestly scared to do anything on it. I put around 1000 miles a month so a new rotor may be a good option for now I guess if none of the suggestion works. Thanks all again for your input.
Check rockauto.com, generally had good luck with them. They categorize brake pads and rotors as budget/daily driver and professional etc. It helps you figure what kind of longevity you will get.
