Blower fan in a dodge dakota

Why do I keep burning out blower fan resistors in my dodge dakota? I have replaced the fan motor and about 5 resistors in 2 years.

Does seem excessive. Are you buying OEM Dodge resistors? It shouldn’t make a difference, but sometimes it does.

Have you checked the air flow in the duct the resistors mount in? Make sure good airflow is getting to the resistors for cooling. It may also be a good idea to check the current flow for each of the blower speed positions to make sure that is within limits.

I have used mostly dodge resistors. I just read an on-line post that suggested the motor is failing so it is drawing too much current. I have ordered a new fan motor because the restor and wires leading to it are hot. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
