Blinker blinks fast

@missileman–the solid state circuitry may trigger an electromagnetic relay which makes the clicking noise or there is some type of electromagnet that pulls a spring closed with a click. This is what I have read. A solid state circuit obviously does not make any noise.

Inside the 2000 Impala flasher module there are relay contacts. The 2003 uses the speakers/audio system for the turn signal sound via a signal from the BCM.

@Nevada_545–this is really getting sophisticated. I’m ready to go back to the days where we put our hand out the window to signal turns. My first car, a 1947 Pontiac, didn’t have turning signals. I ordered a turning signal kit from Montgomery Ward and spent an afternoon installing the turning signals. After installing the turning signals, I did learn how the circuitry worked. I’m not sure I will ever completely understand many of the new electronic systems. At any rate, thanks for the information.

Thanks @Triedaq.

Thanks All. I learned a number of things from this discussion.

Good question, brought up some interesting discussion @JoeMario

When you change your bold there is a plastic piece that the bulb is connected to That contains metal components on the side and inside. This piece is called a turn signal socket You can try switching the left socket with the right or the right with left. Ex: if you have problems with the right then switch the left with the right. If all of a sudden the left does not work and the right does then your socket may need to be replaced which you can get by buying a new headlight assembly or going to a salvage yard or junk yard to find one. You can also find a car being sold for parts and just buy that socket.

Meanjoe75fan, you seem to be so sharp, please tell me this, my tail light passenger side blinkers works when I turn the car key to on position shy from turning the engine on, but as soon as I turn the car on, the blinker stops blinking. What do you think it’s wrong with the car?
