Bent and broken tie rods lead to the 2nd recall

… for 2020-2022 Sentras. Given the typically poor response to manufacturer’s recalls, I REALLY hope that the affected owners take their cars in for the needed repairs.

I’d much prefer bent versus broken. Going over the river bridge one morning my one year old moog tie rod broke. Not a fun experience. If it bends I’d suspect improper heat treating which seems to be an issue over there.

82% of the affected vehicles were inspected/repaired during the first 18 months of the first inner tie rod recall. This is a reasonable completion rate, some vehicles are in salvage yards, auction lots, collision shops, used car lots, etc.

For the newness of these cars, I’m curious how many are really in used car lots. I think it can just be hard to get in touch with owners. They’ve been trying to get everybody to replace their defective takata airbags, trying to get in touch, but even recently one person in a Chrysler was killed by their airbag which had been on recall for years.
