Battery terminal goo, is this normal?

Checking the oil today, noticed these battery terminals, 8 months old for the battery. is this normal before I contact Toyota?

Looks like spray grease to prevent terminal corrosion to me. I would say No Worries.

Yeah, spray grease that has attracted a fair amount of road dust. You can wipe it off if you want.

We (work) used a red spray grease…

Yes, that looks normal. As a heads-up, I’ve battled with a problem with that same style of connector on my Corolla. It must change shape over time (years) , and it eventually it won’t grab hold of the battery post as tightly as it did when new. I’d prefer to see a little separation remaining between the two parts of the connector at the bottom, after tightening.

I laugh at that red spray grease

In my experience, it does NOT prevent corrosion

I’ve always just used dielectric grease in a squeeze tube personally and have Never had any issues…

Yeah, I have seen the red stuff not work very well, especially if not cleaned good 1st… but I have seen it work IF done properly…

I’ve used it for years. Works great.

And like you said, IF DONE PROPERLY.
