Authenticity in the lyrics of a hot rod song

@oldtimer 11: I’ll bet that wouldn’t meet modern CAFE and federal emissions requirements if someone could.

People counted down drag races on the street all the time. Somebody stood between the cars and showed three fingers, then two fingers, one finger, and GO! That’s “numbers counting down”.

Well, I shouldn’t have put the first link up. It’s just a message board with 2 versions of the lyrics of “Shut Down”. The first version is obviously a tongue-in-cheek parody of the correct lyrics: (Pedal to the floor, hear my dual quads drink
and watch my 413’s taillights startin’ to shrink
He’s got a Chebby engine so it’s understood
He’s got a crank and rods and pistons shootin’ out of his hood")

The second version is correct–except–instead of “…pedal’s to the floor, hear his dual quads drink…” the poster typed: “Pedal to the floor, hear my dual quads drink”

So, the correct lyrics have dual quads on the Dodge and fuel injection on the Stingray.

Anyone who’s floored a car with a quad knows what a “drinking” one sounds like…
