Audi -- 2003, 1.8T, Quattro -- the worst car ever

Thanks. We are doing just what you say.

I disagree with your comment.

Don’t feel bad about selling this car - if you trade it in the buying dealer can do the repairs for a lot less than what it would cost you.

I would not even approach Audi USA unless you kept outstanding repair records. And even then I wouldn’t expect anything.
20 years ago I had a Subaru lemon that Subaru admitted had an unusual number of problems - but they weren’t going to compensate me because the car was 3 years old and out of warranty. I would buy a used Gremlin (as though I could buy new!) before I’d but any Subaru.

When you ask it also helps if you aren’t angry and ask if they will share some of the expenses - and don’t hire a lawyer b/c it would not help. Legally, Audi isn’t doing anything wrong.

If you insist on trying to work out the problem, take it to a reputable independent dealer in your area.

I’m in the same boat with a BMW - though the cost of my repairs (about $2,000 yr) would be considered normal based on what other owners shell out. You might want to think about a Lexus next - do not even consider a Acura b/c you will practically need to have your own mechanic travel with you, based on the opinions of a few friends.

Good Luck

Well, if you had purchased a GM product back in the 90’s (I have a "90 Pontiac TransSport. Yes, really) you would also find the occassional major part (not engine or transmission, yet!) needing a repair. For instance the famously crappy power steering rack. GM replaced a lot of them secretly for free back in the day. But you would find that you could get an aftermarket one for $375 and have it put in for a couple of hundred, not the $2000 you spent. My sister has owned a succession of Rabbits and Golfs over the years, and everything fell apart on all of them just like your Audi. She just bought a new Rabbit.

Of course you disagree, you still believe you bought a “premium” car because you still feel you are entitled to something you don’t really deserve. People get unlucky with cars, lets assume you’re one of them. Perhaps you should have spent the extra 1500-2500 for the extended warranty, then you could complain.

And thing about it like this. It could have happened with a GM, a Porsche, a lexus, anything. As for the moniker argument, I stick to my guns. Try sporty sedan, luxury sporty sedan, German sports sedan, but not a premium car. You want a premium car to complain about here is a list.

Audi S8, RS4, RS6, S6, A8
Mercedes S Class, G Class
Porsche ____
Ferarri ____
Lambo ____
BMW M3, M5, 7-Series, 6 Series
Lexus GS(maybe)
Maybach, Zonda, Koenigsegg, TVR, Bowler, etc etc etc.

Tops of the line, top of the money, not a Audi A4. You’ve got an expensive Jetta.
