… and then, there is their mediocre–at best–reliability.
I can’t imagine dealing with those reliability issues when most or all of the Alfa dealerships have shut their doors. And, once they stop selling that marque in The US, the resale value of those cars will be really, really low.

I can guarantee that he has not.
However, it is possible that he has driven an Alfa.
