AT YOUR PERIL: Yet another oil discussion. 0W-20, 5W-30 & 5W-40

Title: We Tested 0W-20, 5W-30 & 5W-40 in the ENGINE — One Clear Winner!

They test the 3 oils and do oil analysis to measure the wear metals to determine wear.

Edit, there is no need to report the topic and have it removed from the forum because you think it is low quality content, AI generated, or because you disagree with it. There is no forum rule against referring to AI enhanced content. It could be a machine translation from a different language, or an AI altered repost of another quality article. Yes it is sensationalized like a lot of stuff on youtube is. The image of the video showing the sludge is exaggerated. A lot of people believe this stuff though, so you can discuss your reasons for why you disagree if you like. That’s what this place is for. It is true that some European vehicles with the same engine specify thicker oil than the US market version. I don’t know how you can get around that. Here is another thing I found on a random discussion forum about a Honda. It also talks badly about a particular 0W20 oil.

As I said elsewhere:

Why the computer voice?

Why not a single image related to the actual test?

Why should I consider this a credible source?

Nothing about this video makes me think it’s legitimate. They supposedly spent a huge amount of time and money on these tests, yet offer no actual documentation, other than (computer) stated claims. Really odd.

The video is AI created bull-flop…

If you want real data-based oil information Lake Speed Jr. is my go-to YouTuber

edit: flagged by accident

Thanks, @Mustangman - you confirmed all my doubts about that original BS video.

Another one for that video is AI generated…

Oh well, as long as oils are required to be compatible, I can top off my lawnmower with full synthetic.

That video is a steaming pile of cr%p. The only thing worse than that video being out there is that people watch and believe any of it.

A good majority of us are out here trying to do right and we’re constantly fighting all the misinformation put out there by the AI bots.

I flagged the original post, we’ll see what the moderators do.

I flagged it also. I miss the feature that if you were flagger number 5 you could watch the thread go off into cyberspace.

You could always go in and change the tittle/topic to warn people it is AI generated BS…

On ‘next door’ a person claimed gas from a big box store gas station to blow up. Looking back, yeah when I was in high school I was gullible, but social media is making any age gullible.

What are you trying to say?

I dunno, maybe put your flags back in your holsters boys and let the discussion unfold. I’m not about to change what I have been doing for close to two million miles, based on any videos or comments here. I change at 3000, and 5000 with the specified oil. Don’t care about the cost. There is one brand though that i will not use.

Ten years ago, the moderator told us that it was not her place to judge and censor a post should it be wrong or inaccurate; it would be up to the forum members to discuss the information they disagreed with.

It is difficult for some to reply to a topic that holds so much mystery and fear. Easier to flag and wait for the moderator to handle the disagreement.

The oil viscosity choice makes little difference, running out of oil is a problem.

That false claims are everywhere. I was trying to say people are gullible, people believed that some brands of gasoline will cause their engine to explode.

This is way different than a post with a debatable opinion. This is a post of a video that was completely created by AI with no actual facts, information, or images. Fabricated nonsense. I put that in a different category. The OP is welcome to post any actual information on the topic.

That is why I used my “super powers” to edit/add a caveat to the thread’s title.

Sounds just like the kind of nonsese that is on Next Door.
