Ask Someone: 2019 Subaru Outback #1751320988

Bought the car on 8-24-24 with 109K miles on it. There was an apparent electrical problem with the passenger side front window would go down but would not go back up. In mid to late October the Oil light can on and quickly went off, with no intervention on my part. This happened several times and was attributed to an electrical issue. After about a week or so of intermittent Oil Light flashes, it stayed steady ON. An appointment with the dealership was made. a gasket was replaced and oil was added. I was told to bring it back in 1200 to 1300 miles. I brought it in to the dealership as planned. they had the car for about a week or more waiting for the adjuster from the extended warranty company to come in and say they would not cover it.

That would be for an inspection to complete the oil consumption test. It seems that the engine did not consume enough oil to qualify for engine replacement; greater the one quart in 1200 miles. You may also need to prove the oil was changed on schedule.

You have proof that the oil warning light works, you need to maintain the oil level so the warning light never comes on again. Driving without oil will damage the engine.
