I would like to offer a solution to the guy that wanted his ashes put into the gas tank. As you mentioned, this would clog the gas filter. A better solution, while pretty much addressing the car owners wishes, would be to sift the ashes so the finer particles could be separated from the course ones. Then the fine particles could be placed in an open vile in the air filter compartment (on the downside of the filter). This way, as the air passes over the open vile, the ashes would be vacuumed slowly out of the vile and enter the combustion chamber through the intake and cause little damage, if any, to the engine.
