I keep forgetting RWHP vs BHP so if that 225 is rear wheel i guess 140 mph is possible.
The '93 Fiat Coupe Turbo had 220hp and did 155. Itās not just horsepower, but aero that needs to be considered at triple-digit speeds.
Iāve gotten to 117 in my MR2, which has 130hp, and I could have gone faster if I hadnāt run out of race track.
That 225 hp is SAE net crankshaft HP as advertised by Ford. Maybe a tad understated but wheel HP would be about 190 - 195 with a manual trans.
Absolutely true! Aero has gotten so much attention over the last 30 years that even econo-boxes can easily crack 100 mph. It helps highway mpgās a lot. My old 215 cid 6 cylinder (100 hp??), Powerglide trans, '64 Pontiac Tempest (the year they got bigger) would hit 95 mph
The HP required for top speed is a cubic function so 2 times faster means 8 times the HP required as long as the gearing is correct.
