Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesman, said detectives are investigating but nobody has been detained or charged.
He said officers were called to the incident at the Valero on Coors NW at Quail just after midnight.
“Family members told police someone was changing a tire of a car when the car fell on the boy,” Gallegos said.
He said a gas station employee heard screams and saw the child under the car.
“She tried to help, but could not find a jack to lift the vehicle,” Gallegos said. “She flagged down other drivers passing by and a group of people worked together to lift the vehicle and pull the child out from underneath.”
He said the boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
“Detectives with APD’s Crimes Against Children were called to the scene to start an investigation,” Gallegos said.
Boy, so many questions! 8 Years old? Was he the only one with the car? Where are his parents? What do the gas station employees have to say about this?
