Aftermarket rack & pinon

I own a 2002 subaru legacy with 115,000 miles. I need a new rack and for replacement my mechanic has quoted me a price of $700 using aftermarket parts or $930 using subaru parts. Are the subaru parts worth the difference. I do plan on keeping the car as long as it is reliable

I have always used aftermarket parts for these type jobs. Before making your final decision, check about warranty. Most aftermarket suppliers will offer a lifetime replacement parts warranty, but Subaru does not necessarily match that warranty for the same part.

This is probably a rebuilt unit…which is fine. Shouldn’t be a problem at all if bought from a reputable supplier.
