If I had a battery that I felt was not strong enough and could not find a cross reference chart for one with more CCA . I would take measurements - height - length - width and post positions and go some where with a battery display. Another thought would be to have a battery pack as a backup.
Their motivation for using a smaller battery is probably b/c it saves space and reduces weight.
