I’ve got a 2008 Subaru Outback. After 6 years, I figure it’s time to change the AC air filter. Question is: Where is it? Any advice?
I assume that you are referring to the Cabin Air Filter, which should be changed at least every couple of years. If you are referring to the Cabin Air Filter, there are directions in your Owner’s Manual, regarding the exact procedure for changing this filter.
If you don’t have an Owner’s Manual, the general procedure for almost every car is to detach the glove box from its upper contact points, and allow it to drop down on its pivots in order to access the filter. However, on some older Subarus, it is also necessary to remove part of the right side of the center console in order to access both of the cabin air filters (yes, some older Subarus had two cabin air filters).
Do you have the Owner’s Manual?
If not, the guys at the parts counter at the Subaru dealership may be able to print specific directions for your particular model.
