The AC system in my 2005 produces marginally cool air. The compressor clutch switches on okay. Before I take my car to the mechanic for a full recharge, is it possible for the compressor to be partially bad? I just want to know what to expect.
When it comes to AC, nothing can be determined until a set of manifold gauges are connected to the system to check pressures.

You need to take your vehicle to the mechanic for an AC performance check, and let the tech access the HVAC system to determine the cause of cool not cold air…
It could be low on freon, Like Tester said, requires manifold gauge pressure reading to determine, could be almost clogged cabin air filter, could be the blend door not closing all the way etc etc etc… You need to have a certified AC mechanic look at it for you…
Ac works well most of the time? Works at 55 mph? Works at stoplight? When does it partially work?
It works all the time, but the air is just marginally cool. It’s not as cold as it used to be.
