Anything special to know when changing brake pads (front) on a car with ABS? Seems simple as without ABS . . . am I missing something? Rocketman (vehicle is my 2004 Mazda RX-8, appx 45,000 miles).
Before forcing the pistons back into the calipers, open the bleed screws. This prevents the brake fluid from being forced back up into the ABS pump where it can cause problems.
After completing the brake job, check the brake fluid level.

When pushing the caliper pistons back into the caliper’s, open the bleed port at the caliper rather than pushing the fluid back into the ABS pump and master cyl.

Good advise even for NON abs brakes.
Thanks folks! I’ll do exactly that when I do the replacement. Rocketman
