That’s a good question. You may be using the term more precisely than I am. When I say quality control, I’m referring to defective components. Like the fuel pump in my new Taurus that quit within the first 6 months of ownership, or the rear taillights on the same car that failed repeatedly.
Faulty parts, in other words. I don’t attribute that to poor build quality on the part of the UAW or other folks who built the car, but rather on poor supply chain management on the part of the automaker.
And, to be fair, all companies have some issues with this. I happen to know by experience that the current Honda Civic Hybrid has a known issue with faulty 12v batteries. I manage a company vehicle that’s had to have its battery replaced twice. So that is, IMHO, a QC issue that Honda has yet to resolved on this model.
