A/C 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I recently went on a road trip (approx 1200 miles) split into two days. About 400 miles into each day, my A/C would stop working unless it’s on the highest setting. It sounds like it’s on but it’s not cooling. I turned it off for a bit and back on within the same trip and it wouldn’t work. On day two, the same thing happened. Any ideas? Around town, it has always worked, just when a long trip is involved, it will stop. The car has about 28000 miles on it. It has also had all recommended maintenance.

It sounds like the evaporator is freezing up. To verify this, put the air control on recycle next time you have a long trip. It shouldn’t freeze up when set to recycle.

Thanks, I will try that!
