3 liters! why would you want extra horsepower? Short term?
Not much. You not going to find much in the way of traditional go-fast parts for this engine. A lower restriction exhaust and intake will get you a few (probably very few) additional ponies.
For the Taurus, relief is spelled S-H-O.
Replace it with the duratec 3.0 liter.
Nothing; if you got more horsepower, the rods would start to come loose. The suspension wasn’t designed to handle a lot of power anyway, even though there are more powerful engines in the Taurus, there are modifications too.
Enjoy this cars quit comfortable ride, and take it for what it is.
What about one of those Water 4 Gas things?

On a 98 Taurus, I think I’d leave well enough alone. This time I’m serious.
Sorry, Josh, but I have to agree with the others. Unless you’re really handy with a plasma torch and a TIG welder and have a big project budget, I think you’re best to just enjoy it as a Taurus or trade it for something more powerful.
