While driving cross-country the speedometer,odometer&tach gauge stopped working along with the parking brake light.Went to the FORD dealer to have it fixed and was told that FORD did not have replacement parts for this year/model. Went to our local mechanic who replaced the whole unit from another used 98 Taurus which was tested and worked & included the printed circut board. The same symptoms appeared. speedomter, odometer & tach guage still not working. Any suggestions?
Dont know about your Taurus, but the factory wiring diagrams for my 97 Explorer show that the only common point for the tach & speedometer is where they ground to the sheet metal under the hood.
You need to look at the wiring diagram & check for a ground problem.
