My Jetta has two mufflers. One near the tail pipe and one in the center of the car. The one in the center has a small hole in it. Midas wants $370 to replace this muffler. Can we do away with this muffler and just put pipe to the muffler near the tail pipe? What kind of problem will this cause?
Forget Midas…Find another independent exhaust shop and replace the bad muffler and remove the RESONATOR (the extra muffler in the rear) at the same time. ONE muffler, ONE tailpipe, drive on.
If you try to use just the resonator for a muffler, it might be a little loud and sound funny. But if that’s Ok, then go for it!! The CAR will not care…
