Timing belt went south. what are the odds that the may valves may have had an encounter with the pistons . 4 cyl engine
Since this IS an “interference” engine, it is not a question of whether valves and pistons collided. Instead, it is a question of how many valves and pistons collided. This could get very pricey.
The odds are 99%+.
I have a feeling that the damage to the engine will cost more to repair than the car is worth.
The odds are about 100%. This is why Hyundai recommends periodic replacement of the timing belt.
