97 Honda CRV, Blinkers won't work in winter!

Why do my blinkers stop working when the temp goes below 30?

I have wonderful RED 97 Honda CRV. It is getting old but has sentimental value. My husband gave it to me before he died 10 years ago. About 4 years ago, it started giving me trouble. Every winter, here in PA, when the temp goes below about 30, I can acctivate them, but they will not turn off by themselves. I have to remember to turn them off each time I use them, until a real sunny warm day comes about April.

Then, low and behold, I’ll be going around a corner and they go off themselves.

I had it looked at at the Honda place the first year it started doint this. They said it was broken and would cost about $100 for the part. At that time, I decided clicking it off was not a problem. Then in the spring, I discovered if fixed itself.

Why does it go off in winter? Is is wet? Cold? shortens with shrinkage? Is there anything I can do to fix it without going to my friencly Honda dealer?

Thanks Scotty in PA
