91 Buick Regal Surging, 3.8 liter

My neighbors car, 91 Regal, is surging and dying. It sounds like…“vroom vroom vroom.”

They have replaced cam sensor and something on the throttle body, I think she said TPS.

Classic vacuum leak symptom. Your neighbor should comb under the hood for broken or loose vacuum lines or air hoses. Check the grommets like for the PCV valve as well. The MAF sensor is suppose to monitor all air going into the engine, but any air leaks will cause surging, as the ECM tries to deal with air getting in that it hasn’t metered through the MAF.
