Trying to find an alternator for a 88 Silverado but they want to know what amp itis. I have no idea. Does anyone know how I find this out? And will an alternator from another chevy model/year work?
I believe the highest output alternator GM used in your year of vehicle was a 90 amper.

Alternator output is listed on the option sticker for your truck maybe its on the glove box door,ask a Dealer parts man what numbers to look for ,you dont have to buy from them.Its not going to say 90amps or so it will just give a letter/number combo. in the right place that corresponds to alternator output.
