88 Ford Van

Farewell and adieu to you fair ford van,
Farewell and adieu to you ford vans of late,
For we’ve received orders, to watch you catch on fire,
and so nevermore shall we work on you again.

thank you a lot kinder words than I had for it.No looking back , I’m really almost sadder about the stuff that was in the van , my bikes I lost two of them and a whole lot of tools. Somehow my wallet was in it, fortunatly I didn’t have my rent money still in it.

I believe that the decision is quite conclusive. Hopefully no one was injured.

Just when you get all the kinks worked out!!!

I hope no one was hurt and you can find an easy replacement.

Yosemite

considering I drove it kind of on fire for a couple of blocks, I got away with fairly minor burns on my hand, trying to put the fire out, nothing serious. I think in the long run I would of spent that time grabbing my stuff out of the stupid thing, of course no next time with that ride. Or a good reason to actually have a fire extinguisher, might be getting one of those for the next ride.
Yes I think my big lesson would be a fire extinguisher, course the fire came out of nowhere.
I had just been to the junkyard and had replaced the map sensor, I thought the thing was running a lot better, almost fixed.
I think the fire started in the heater, as smoke started coming out the heater vents first. I had tried the heater earlier and it made a crazy noise so I turned it off. It must have been on fire for quite awhile before it started smoking.
When I tried to put it out that’s where the fire was. Go figure. Its winter so no hoses outside tried to bucket full it out but once the dash started flaming I knew it was a lost cause , grabbed what I could on the way out, called 911 I thought about grabbing a bike , but they weren’t worth my life , nothing in there was .
The cops were like what do you have in the van? because it kept blowing up. I’m guessing that was the tires on my poor Schwinn’s, I kept one of the frames , I’m going to take it up to the bike shop see if they think they can fix it. Right before I buy another bike.
Poor firemen , It was a work truck as well as a moving shed so it was full of about anything as you can get. So after they used the fire trucks supply of water they had to pull out everything , which I made more fun because the back doors were locked, and they had to use the jaws on the doors, twice to get them open. Then they basically shot another tank of water on it . It still wanted to burn.
Those guys were definitely brave nobody had to tell me not to get close. They were right in there right next to my dual gas tanks that luckily are still there. Lots of weird flames as things in the van melted , exploding. After the fire I asked them if this was the best car fire they had seen, , today? He said nah this wasn’t that much at all. I guess it was nice location , I can imagine doing that on the highway.
After I called the pro’s there was nothing to do but take pictures and a little bit of video that needs editing.

That should buff out with a little elbow grease…
