79 years young and doing burnouts

This Grandma has got to be one of the coolest Grandma’s out there for a car guy/gal…

Something tells me that this Grandma don’t won’t no self driving contraption anytime soon…

(and don’t give me no nary bit of grammar lessons, I know what I wrote)

Good for her!
I could undoubtedly out-run her Caddy with my 450h+, but I can’t do burn-outs because of the AWD. I’m 77 years old, and–like Granny–I also enjoy the occasional full-throttle run.

I too am a boomer, though I now avoid burnouts, I did many when younger. My 62 Plymouth Sport Fury and a friend’s 66 Ford Seven Litre could smoke ‘em for a block.

Cool video, Mr. Dave. I’ve never seen anyone up there in high numbers do burnouts.

Personally, I’ve never done burnouts as I’m too concerned about the cost of new tires.

Well , thanks to Mr. Google I now know what ( GTA 6 ) is.

Grand Theft Auto #6 – which I have never watched .

Yeah I didn’t know either…lol
But I don’t play video games…

Love that Cadillac Coupe de Ville! Fins! Wide whites! Dagmars! Thanks for posting it.

The drivetrain was updated. It’s running 454 bored to 489 ci along with Edelbrock heads and air intake, a Holley Sniper EFI carb, MSD ignition, positraction, hydraulic roller cam, and a 400R4 AT. I’m sure you were joking.

I missed that detail. The standard Caddys from that year were able to run 0-60 in 10-12 seconds, depending on model/engine. My 450h+ can do it in 6 seconds.

and stroked…
It also has a 0.250" longer stroke with a 0.030" over bore…

Stock Chevy 454 has a 4.25" bore and a 4.00" stroke, this one has been bored to 4.28" with a 4.250" stroker crank making it the 489ci of earth rotating torque, it was dyno’d at 530HP, but I did not hear any torque numbers, but I’d bet it is a little more… hehe

You would have to bore the engine about 0.160" over to get 489 out of a 454 with the stock stoke…

yeah yeah yeah, just more useless information, but at least it is car related…

With those narrow treaded white walls and probably stock rear suspension (even with a fat good tire, massive wheel hop most likely), you could probably beat it off the line, but once Granny gets her rolling, it might be a different story cause at that point she might hook and book, but off the line, not so much, that massive stroked BBC gonna have a big flat torque curve… lol

I guess it just wouldn’t be right to give it pro stock shoes.

I saw someone doing this on an empty lot. I can’t imagine the fun. How much life does it take out of the tires?

You either get it or you don’t… I don’t think you ever will…

If you have to ask, you are clearly in the wrong thread…
Who cares that is never the point… Besides, those burnout contest guys will go as far as burning the tires down to the rims…

Most people buy cheap junk tires to do burnouts or even used tires…

But again, you will never understand it… It’s a hot rod car guys/gals thing…

BTW, I do it sometimes just to smooth out my rear tires as I am running a real spool in the rear end (no diff, axles locked) so when turning corners or turning around in my driveway, one tire drags, or they both drag a little, so a quick burnout to the rescue… And again if you have to ask, you are in the wrong tread… lol

I hardly ever agree with R. Troll but he is not on the wrong thread. He just does not understand this kind of action and neither do I.

If this was a 4wd thread about someone’s off road vehicle not going into 4wd low, or their old manual locking hubs not engaging, and you have never owned or cared about off roading (overlanding), and you ask the question why would you ever want to go off roading (overlanding, fishing, camping etc) then you are probably in the wrong thread… lol

Not trying to be disrespectful…

This is a general interest website and people can comment on any thread they wish. If someone wants to do burnouts in a safe place it’s OK by me. If someone doesn’t like it they can say that too.

But let someone come on here asking about building a turbo motor, or lowering their van or about any kind of modification that is out of the norm here and they get blasted…

And don’t even try to tell me that s**t don’t happen…lol
