I have a 1996 Ford E-150 van that has a misfire. The plugs, wires, cap and rotor have been changed and I still have it. The error codes come up as cylinder 3. ( I was getting the same before I replaced everything.) Scanner also says lean on bank 1. It also says that the O2 sensor behind the cat is not doing much. Any ideas?
Have a compression test performed, and post the results. If there’s something wrong with that cylinder, there’s no sens in trying to fix anything else before that.
Agreed with checking the compression. That should always be the first step.
I’m not against a compression check, but in this case might want to turn to the injector as first suspect. Switch the injector with another cylinder and see if the code changes with it.
NOTE: I’ve looked through my entire code listing and am unable to find “not doing much”. Can you be more specific? A code perhaps?
