Any major problem with the car

Yes, engine performance and instrument panel issues.

The link below shows a little more detail about the problems. You have to decide whether they are major or not. You can also go to NHTSA.gov and see the complaints registered at NHTSA in more detail. Click in the recall button and enter year, brand, and model. In addition to recalls, there are complaints, investigations, and manufacturer communications.

Oops… forgot the link. It’s in the post below by @ledhead75. .

Look at other options if you can, how about a Mazda3? Corolla? Corolla Cross?

Very funny, Car Complaints is where the OP was invited to make an inquiry.

There are only 3 complaints listed, that is the reason for asking the auto experts at Car Talk.

Even if the OP’s Trax doesn’t have any “issues”, it isn’t even truly competitive in its size/price class. Consumer Reports tested 19 small cars, and the Trax was rated as #17 in that category.

But, if the OP is interested solely in whether it is a “troublesome” car, CR rated its reliability as “average”.

While only three complaints were made at Car Complaints, they have a list of complaints made at NHTSA.

That’s the bigger problem to me. Why not buy a better vehicle?

According to some newspaper articles i read awhile back, the Trax was one of the cars people buy when they desperately “need a car right now l” just to get ti work and take the kids to school

Buying the cheapest car in the market has been a thing for decades. In 1976 my future wife’s father bought her a Plymouth Duster 6-cyl with power nothing. He asked for the cheapest car on the lot. She used it to commute to college while living at home.
