Make sure to get everything in righting, from your complaint to the dealer stating it is normal, every time you take it in… May fall under a Limon Law…

Also, have you taken it to a different dealer?? Any GM dealer can work on it…

Ask your shop to check for an exhaust system leak. Knucklehead diy’er opinion.

A 3-cylinder engine in an SUV might be noisy? Entry level vehicles have very small engines in order to satisfy EPA fuel economy requirements.

You may not have heard it on a short test drive, but it might be normal. From Motor Trend review:
“ Unfortunately, the three-cylinder still feels and sounds as if the crankcase has been filled with sand rather than oil. The Avenir includes active noise cancellation to muffle certain frequencies, but the gritty vibrations and gruff engine note buzz and bristle under acceleration and while cruising at highway speeds”

Additionally, it is likely that the CVT has downshifted to a great extent on that upgrade, leading to much higher RPM. Has the OP taken note of the tachometer reading when the noise & vibration are extreme?
