new hyundai tucson lost power, did not stop completely but went very slowly. Tried several times to get it going. Finally turned off engine and back on again and all was fine.

A vehicle that new should be under warranty. Take it back to the dealer and tell them what happened. If the check engine light came on, that will be the place to start.

That symptom is consistent with an EGR system problem. Ask your shop if that’s possible explanation, some newer cars don’t use the EGR system.

A problem with the battery or charging system in another possibility.

As mentioned above, this is a warranty issue and to keep to the warranty terms, shouldn’t be repaired by anybody other than a dealership.
