2018 Chevrolet Traverse- Dead, won't start

That is an important issue to delve into. Getting the instrument panel to light up and getting the starter motor to run both go through the ignition switch - at least on traditional twist-to-start ones.

Does “car is totally dead” mean other electrical things, like headlights and interior lights and brake lights, don’t work? Those don’t rely on the ignition switch. If they, too, don’t work, that tends to remove the ignition switch from consideration.

GM had quite a spate of ignition switch problems some years back and replaced thousands.

Sounds like all of the recent repairs got cobbled into one complaint, did each of those things caused the engine to stall? I think some of those repairs were performed to correct certain faults detected by the computers.

The duties of the ignition switch are performed by several computers, ignition switches aren’t the same as they were 40 years ago.

On both of my cars the dashboard will come to life just opening the driver door, no ignition switch involved. It would help to know “how dead” the dashboard is.

Nothing works. No lights, no nothing! It’s at a Chevy dealer right now. They are going to test the fob and then electrical. They feel it might be the fob not making a connection :person_shrugging:

Just a thought. you said you had the battery replaced. but were the battery cables checked? there could be a break inside one that is making an intermittent connection. or you can have a loose battery cable connection at the opposite end of the battery. the next time it happens have someone wiggle the battery cables to see if you get any power.
