AND I highly recommend using the parking brake. Runaway cars don’t happen often, but at my former employer, I saw it happen twice in 8 years. BMWs both times, too. Almost half the cars on the lot must have been 3-series. Remember: if your car rolls away, it’s All Your Fault.

I don’t think that this is still a problem with Fords, but back in the late '60s, Ford Galaxies had a known problem with the park pawl slipping, and the cars rolling away. It happened to my aunt, and you can be sure that she began using her parking brake after that incident.
I use mine all the time. And it’s still can be used as an EMERGENCY BRAKE since it’s independent of the hydraulic brakes.
