2017 Ford Escape Titanium Vacuum Pump Failed - Need New turbocharger

Unless you are aware of known problems w/using the dealership, given that choice, I’d use the dealership. Dealership shop is almost certainly going to have all the needed equipment & experience for the job, plus it’s worth the $800 just for the extra year of warranty.

Still wondering about why this issue develops in the first place; it seems common sense for engine designer to presume the vacuum pump is going to fail at some point, and so they’d design in some sort of fail-safe to prevent damage to the turbo. Maybe easier said than done.

Really George?? If they could predict the future and keep anything and everything from ever breaking then vehicles would last forever with simple maintenance other than crash items… lol
