Could also be an engine misfire problem. Hope for that, torque converter repair is probably much more expensive. Generally those symptoms would turn on the check engine light. Is it on? Also suggest ask your shop to use their scan tool to read the active and pending diagnostic codes stored in computer memory, and post the numbers here. the numbers usually begin with the letter “P” (for powertrain); e.g. p0300 is for misfires. Google that number, will explain more about it.
